Visa stamping services in UAE help you complete the final step of activating your residence visa. Since 2022, the UAE no longer places a physical sticker in your passport for most visas. Instead, your residency is issued digitally and linked to your Emirates ID, which is now your main proof of legal residence. Getting there still takes a clear set of steps: an entry permit, a mandatory medical fitness test, Emirates ID biometrics, and final approval by the immigration authority. At Sahara Visa Medical Centre in Sharjah, we handle the key steps under one roof, from your visa medical test and your Emirates ID application to your change of status if you are already inside the UAE. Accredited by MoHAP and ICA, we keep the process fast and correct. For smooth, reliable visa stamping services in UAE, Sahara Visa Medical Centre guides you at every step.
The Change
Visa stamping is the final stage that turns an approved entry permit into an active, legal residence visa. The name comes from the old system, when a physical visa sticker was placed in your passport. That changed on 16 May 2022, when the UAE moved to a digital residency system.
People still call the process “stamping” out of habit, even though the proof is now digital. So visa stamping now means activating your residency, not marking your passport.
The Process
Visa stamping is not a single appointment. It is a chain of steps that must be completed in the right order before your residency goes active.
01 — Entry permit: Your sponsor secures an approved entry permit, valid 60 days.
02 — Change of status: If you are already in the UAE, you switch status without leaving.
03 — Medical fitness test: You complete the mandatory health screening.
04 — Emirates ID biometrics: You register your fingerprints and photo.
05 — Final approval: The immigration authority activates your digital residency.
Because each step depends on the last, one delay can hold up the whole process. Completing every stage correctly is what gets your residency activated on time.
Not Optional
The medical fitness test is a legal requirement for visa stamping, not an optional extra. Under Cabinet Resolution No. 5 of 2016, every resident aged 18 and above must pass a health screening before residency is granted. Your visa cannot be issued until you are declared medically fit.
The standard test screens for communicable diseases and usually includes a chest X-ray for tuberculosis and a blood test covering HIV, hepatitis B and C, and syphilis. At our centre, this test is completed in under 30 minutes. You can read the full visa medical test process to know what to expect. Passing the medical is the gateway that lets your visa stamping move forward.
Our Role
As a combined medical fitness and typing centre, we handle the parts of stamping that you can complete outside the immigration office, all in one place. That means fewer trips and a smoother file.

Good to Know
For most residents, the answer is no. Since 2022, the UAE has dropped the physical passport sticker for the large majority of visa types, and your Emirates ID is accepted as proof of residency at entry and exit. In February 2026, Dubai even rolled out biometric Smart Gates that let residents cross with face and iris recognition, no stamp needed.
A few rare cases, such as certain visa categories or a data mismatch, may still require an original passport or extra documentation. If you are ever unsure, your status can be verified through the official GDRFA or ICP channels. For nearly everyone, though, a blank passport is normal, and your digital record is what counts.
