The Concept
A visa medical test is the mandatory health check the UAE requires before granting a residence visa. It confirms you are free of certain communicable diseases, which protects public health across the country. Every resident aged 18 and above must pass it, and your visa cannot be issued until you are declared fit.
The rules are federal, so the test is the same in Abu Dhabi as elsewhere, even though the centre must be in your sponsorship emirate. It sits between your entry permit and your Emirates ID. Passing your medical is the gateway that lets your residency move forward.
